NHW Initiatives
Next of Kin Cards
One of the main initiatives that Neighbourhood Watch has been involved in is the distribution of approximately 250,000 Next of Kin cards. These are wallet sized highly visible (fluorescent yellow with green writing) cards which contain information regarding the person an individual wishes regarding who they want informing should the holder be involved in an accident, etc.
The front of the card contains a few useful telephone numbers and the reverse has provisions for
- Your Name
- Next of Kin details including:
Telephone
And Mobile phone numbers - Any allergies
- Other Medical Information
The part of the card which states other medical information could contain any medical ailments, or medication taken which may be of use to the Medical services.
The last publication which was sponsored by the Blackburn Primary Care Trust asked for a space for additional information regarding GP details. The necessity, perhaps in accident, for this information to be available would be highly beneficial and having the contact details of the GP who holds a complete medical record could save valuable minutes.
If you have a mobile phone you can also put your Next of Kin details under the Address details of ICE (In Case of Emergency) together with the name and telephone number of the person you want to designate as your next of kin.
